Physical therapy

When Anders opened Sportsfyssen at Blegdamsvej in 2005, it was a big decision. After working as a tenant at clinics in Gentofte, Vesterport and Ballerup for the past 14 years, the time had come to start his own business.

For a year, Anders had some afternoon hours at Marathonsport and there was a great demand from runners for qualified treatment, advice and guidance for running injuries. As a long-time runner, running injuries had always been of great interest to him, both personally as he ran into injuries himself and of course wanted to get out and run quickly again, and also professionally as he always wanted to be one of the best in his field.

Running is living! Therefore, all practitioners at Sportsfyssen must be or have been runners themselves. It means everything to sit opposite a person who speaks the "same language", knows how you are training, what you are failing at and why you are passionate about getting back to it.

A sports physio uses their professional knowledge and experience to examine, test and diagnose their patient, choose the optimal treatment for you and help you get back on track safely. This is what we strive for at Sportsfyssen.

There are special sports courses for physical therapists and you can take an exam in sports physiotherapy and call yourself an examined sports physiotherapist. All physios at Sportsfyssen have courses in sports physiotherapy.

Since Sportsfyssen is a private clinic without an agreement with the health insurance, this means that we can choose how much time we spend on our examination and treatment. We can therefore choose which form of treatment we think is best for the patient. The health insurance will not provide subsidies for forms of treatment such as laser, shockwave, acupuncture and running style analysis.

We have very good experience in doing combination treatments where we as physiotherapists diagnose, treat and give home exercises to achieve the most optimal result. It takes some time, so we always set aside an hour for the first examination/treatment.

If you have had an injury from running, we would very much like to see you run in order to find the cause, therefore we will make a running style recording of you for the first consultation, if your injury allows you to run.

We again make insoles for various foot-related injuries. The insoles are primarily from Bauerfind and Clinical Innovation.

The soles are always individually adjusted and are very suitable for injuries that have occurred acutely or that have become chronic. Many other injuries which may be related to the feet may also treated with insoles.

The most frequent injuries we see in the clinic, which will typically benefit from insoles, are:

– Plantar fascia – irritations and heel spur
– Achilles tendon problems
– Forefoot drop
– Shin inflammations
– “Flat feet”
– Knee problems related to foot position / running style.

Often it will be relevant with a walking or running style analysis and possibly supplemented with other treatment.
If it is relevant, we also have the option of ultrasound scanning your foot.
